i feel stupid asking this....
how do you get the cassette out of the tape player when the eject button wont work??
i recently got my car road worthy. i wanted to see if the tape player would work, so i stuck a tape in. it just clicks (like its switching to the other side of the tape). i push eject, but it wont come out. so now everytime i turn on my car, it clicks about 6 times and finally lets the radio play. help!

Well...you could always use one of my favorite techniques which is dismantling the whole thing...but I would assume you don't want to do that...
Is the eject button a "digital" one or analog. Analog is the type where the button gets pushed out when you put the tape in and ejects the tape as you push it back in. Digital is where it's a button you push and the tape is ejected in a mechanical means.
Without dismantling the thing I would use something like a knife or a flat head screwdriver to reach down in front of the tape and push it up like that...you might need to use two tools for this, one to pull it up and another to aid in pulling it out far enough to grab it with your fingers... |

Well in that case I could list a few reasons why it won't work and maybe a solution...but unless you're good with electronics like me then your best bet would to just replace the whole deck after which you can dismantle the old one to get the tape out...
Digital eject buttons stop working for a couple reasons...one could be a short in the wire from it...another could be that the push button could've gone bad or possibly the solder that holds the wire on could have broke. Either way it all comes down to the fact you probably need to get the whole thing replaced. In the meantime you could try what I posted above to get the tape out. |
