So, it seems as though the Dems are pushing the idea of reinstating the draft again...The last time that Rangel tried this B.S., it failed miserably (402-2) in the House.
He reasons that because local constituents' children would be in harm's way, the politicians would be less likely to declare war. Does anyone buy this? If anything, I think it would bolster politicians' warmongering - they would know exactly how many troops were at their disposal (a fitting word I think), and exactly how many could be moved around and how spread out they could be stretched.
The world's complaining about how the U.S. is "pushing" their agenda and ideals on them, and I don't think a huge standing army (anywhere in the world) would lead to anything different.
